I've known Ed and his team for over 40 years, which just happens to be how long they've been in business (40th anniversary this year! Congrats!). I've bought all kinds of gear here, including, of course, my first canoe, a Mad River 15'. I still have it, and I still love it.
River Sports truly cares about their customers and their buying experience, and they are always looking for new and innovative products to bring to Knoxville. Don't know what you need? They take the time to explain the different options, always in a friendly, laid back way, never pushy. In the rare event that there's an issue, they make it right.
Local stores like RSO are becoming rare, sadly, and when given a choice between local or Big Box, I choose to support them because I want them to be around for another 40 years. Staff is always kind and helpful, very laid back atmosphere. I was looking for a PFD for paddle boarding and they had a really wide selection that I couldn’t find elsewhere.
Looking for this specific shoe. Did not have in stock at the store however they went the extra mile. Drive to warehouse and brought me back the size I needed. Also had huge selection of sporting goods, from packs, shoes and clothing. Definitely will be my go to store for sporting goods. Thanks again for the exceptional service.
We bought a cargo box for our van. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful by helping show me how to install it properly on my car and helped adjust my roof rack. One of my keys wasn’t the right one somehow, and they took initiative to swap out the locks to get us 2 working keys. It ended up being no hassle at all, unlike an online delivery would have been. Thanks, guys!
This out door outfitters has absolutely everything you need to do any outside activities ever. I am always blown away by their selection. The employees or owner I don't know got on the phone to help someone find out if a trail was ready to hike or kayak. Crazy helpful. So great to have local.
Update 6/13/17 my girlfriends Thule rack finally got installed. She ordered it weeks ago. They scheduled it for last Tuesday and canceled on her a few hours before we headed that way. It was pint night and they hadn't thought of that. They rescheduled for the 12th. We show up and the installer had called in sick. We live over an hour away and a phone call would have been nice. She was beyond... herself with disappointment. Matt, "Matthew the biblical" stepped up. With his soon to be engineering degree, he had the roof rack installed in short order. Love the store and I'm glad it all worked out. If the rack didn't get on the car yesterday I don't think we would have been back.
We have been to this store and the one on Kingston Pike in the last week. River Sports has a knowledgeable staff and a wide range of products. We mountain bike, kayak, camp and hike. We were in here for a few hours because there was so much to look at. Not just river sports, They have something for every outdoor adventure activity. Highly recommended. I will be back... soon
